9) JUDGING SYSTEM:

We have created a new, improved and fair judging system for horses at this show as under:
Horses will be judged by 5 independent Judges without consulting with each other.
• Each Judge will allot the marks to the horses in the various criteria mentioned below.
• The highest and lowest marks per criteria will be removed. For example, in the criteria of legs, lets suppose the judges have marked 2,3,4,4 and 5, the marks of 2 and 5 will be removed. This has been done to eliminate as far as possible any errors or inherent bias.
• The top marked animals will be ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th accordingly.
• In case of a tie, both horses winning that position will be awarded.
• Height of a horse shall not be considered in the Judging.

10) LIST OF JUDGES:

The final list of panel of Judges will be declared on the Morning of the16th February 2024.

11) JUDGING EXPLAINED:

The aim of this section is for the participating owners to better understand what exactly is judged inside the ring. The format used by the Indigenous Horse Owners associations is a proprietary format that has been developed and honed over the past five years. The format takes into account the following aspects of the horse: Type, Ears, Head, Neck, Top-line, Legs and Presentation.
• Type: the main aspect checked here is whether a horse conforms to the basic breed standard as set forth by the AIMHS, Jodhpur. The marking here is based on observing if there are any obvious traits of other breeds such as the Kathiawari, the Sindhi or the Nukhra present. Chamba horses will be severely marked down in this criteria. A Chamba is described as any animal where the socks on the legs extend above the start of the knees in the front legs and above the hocks in the back legs. A white patch may or may not be present on the lower abdomen. Similarly, bald faced horses or those with blue eyes will also be severely marked down in this criteria.
• Ears and head: while there are many different types of ears that are acceptable within the breed standards, inward turning ears that are touching or about to touch when alert are considered best. Similarly, it is the size and position of the ears in relation to the head that also counts. The size of the cups of the ears will also be taken into account as will the distance at the base of the ears. Forward drooping ears will also be marked down significantly.
• Head: the head should be refined and not unduly coarse. A slight degree of roman nose is acceptable but will be marked down if significant. A concave or dish face will also be marked down. Similarly, overly rounded jaws will be marked down as will short muzzled animals. The head should be proportionate in relation to the rest of the body of the horse. Within this criterion, parrot mouthed or monkey mouthed horses will be significantly marked down.
• Neck: the neck should be refined with a prominent throat-latch and should be proportionate to the horse. A short neck, a reverse or ewe neck where the bottom is stronger looking than the top part, a swan neck or a plank neck will be marked down significantly. Similarly, a crusty neck devoid of muscle will also be marked down. The point where the neck connects to the body should also be proportionate and should not form a triangle shape.
• Top-Line: the top-line of the horse refers to what one sees when the horse is parallel to the judge. It starts from the top of the head and extends all the way back to where the tail is set. The body should be divided into three equal parts. The tail set should not be overly low. The rump should not be unduly angulated. The back should not have too much of a dip or hollow in it as these are all considered faults and will be marked down.
• Legs: The horse should stand on all four legs with an equal weight distribution. Legs that are too close on the front end and lack a gap of at least 6 inches will be marked down. Similarly, cow hocked and size hocked legs will also be significantly marked down. Toe-in and toe-out hooves will also lead to marks being cut. Similarly, bog spavins or wind puffs, if extremely prominent will be marked down. Horses that have heels that are higher than 2 inches will also be marked down. While in motion there should be no significant limp visible and the legs must move in a clean fluid like motion.
• Presentation: the Marwari must present itself with a proud demeanor in the ring. This does not mean it should be unruly and misbehaved. Handlers constantly jerking at the halter will be warned and if needed the horse will be disqualified. A horse that constantly rears and disallows a proper inspection will also be marked down. While trotting the horse must show alertness off mind. At the same time, artificial substances applied to sensitive areas will lead to disqualification.

12) APPEALING A JUDGEMENT:

There is no appeal of the judgments provided. All decisions made will be final and binding. Post judgement, the participant is expected to abide by the judgement given. Any misbehavior will lead to an immediate disqualification and a written request to the All India Marwari Horse Society Jodhpur as well as other Associations to initiate a 6 to 12 month ban for all events, Pan India, for the owner, the horse as well as the Stud farm.
